Utopia Institute is accredited with various SETAs.

Our quest is to at all times ensure that we meet and exceed the requirements of the SETAs.

We extend the benefit to our learners to ensure that they are declared competent
based on national qualification criteria and be rewarded the necessary credits,

be it a qualification, skills programme or a unit standard.

merSETA

Our Primary SETA

The MerSETA is the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA) is one of 21 Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) established to promote skills development in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998 (as amended).

ETDP-SETA

The SETA is mandated to promote and facilitate the delivery of education, training, and development in order to enhance the skills profile of the Education, Training, and Development (ETD) sector and contribute to the creation of employment opportunities, especially for those previously disadvantaged.

Out of the 21 SETAs, the ETDP SETA is one of 18 SETAs that have been re-established with no changes for the period 01 April 2020 – 31 March 2030 (Certificate no. 07 /ETDPSETA/1 /04/20) by the Minister of Higher Education and Training (DHET), Dr. Blade Nzimande.

In terms of the amended constitution as promulgated in the government gazette no. 35336, the following were appointed as members of the ETDP SETA Accounting Authority with effect from 01 April 2018.

QCTO

QCTO.png

The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) is a Quality Council established in 2010 in terms of the Skills Development Act Nr. 97 of 1998.

Its role is to oversee the design, implementation, assessment and certification of occupational qualifications, including trades, on the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF).

The QCTO also offers guidance to skills development providers who must be accredited by the QCTO to offer occupational qualifications.

MICTSETA

The Media, Information, and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA) is a public entity established in terms of the Skills Development Act, 1998 (Act No. 97 of 1998). The MICT SETA plays a pivotal role in achieving South Africa’s skills development and economic growth within the sub-sectors its operates namely; Advertising, Film and Electronic Media, Electronics, Information Technology, and Telecommunications.

The Services SETA bridges the gap between the formal education and training system and the workplace by facilitating and funding learning programmes that build skills-set required by industries (the world of work).
